Unst & Yell
Shetland's north isles have many fascinating attractions.
UnstThe most northerly inhabited island in the UK, Unst is a truly fascinating place. Why not:
- Send a postcard postmarked from the most northerly Post Office in Britain./li>
- Visit Muness Castle, built by the same family who built Scalloway Castle.
- Expolre the Hermaness Nature Reserve is the best place in the UK to see the Great Skua and the occasional Arctic Skua.
- Spend time at the Unst Boat Haven contains examples of different traditions of boat building.
Camping Facilities
Camping facilities are available at the Gardiesfauld Youth Hostel.
Yell
On the island of Yell is the Old Haa in Burravoe, a local museum and heritage centre housing much of the collection of the naturalist Bobby Tulloch.
The Fetlar Foy, in the summer, is a good spree for camping with beautiful views. When we had visitors there they went midnight swimming!!
