Will I get a full tank of fuel?

A full tank of fuel will be supplied, the vehicle must be returned with a full tank at the end of the hire. (back)

What if things break down?

You will be given a contact number to call, should you have a breakdown. (back)

Do I get cooking gas included?

Yes, an adequate supply of cooking gas will be supplied according to the length of hire. (back)

What if I run out of cooking gas?

There are filling stations in the main town of Lerwick and many parts of Shetland, including outlying islands. Most of these stations have all types of supplies (ie: petrol, diesel, gas, water, foods, etc.) We also keep gas at the main camper pick up point in Lerwick. (back)

Can I pick up the van from the airport or ferry terminal?

No, unfortunately the camper cannot be picked up from the airport or ferry, but we can arrange to pick YOU up from the airport or ferry terminal. (back)

Can I leave the van at the airport or ferry terminal?

No, we regret that it is not possible to leave the camper at either terminal. (back)

When/where can I pick up the van?

What are your opening hours?

Our opening times are 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday - Saturday but we can be reached anytime on the contact number. (back)

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept most major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Delta, Solo, Maestro.) We also accept cash and cheque. (back)

Are you VAT registered?

We are VAT registered. A VAT invoice will be supplied. (back)

I have a non-UK driving license, would this be a problem?

A non-UK driving licence is no problem. (back)

Can I rough camp in Shetland?

In general you can rough camp in Shetland. It is advisable whenever possible to contact the landowner and ask permission. We can assist you with lots of good places to stop and camp if need be. (back)

I am 20, can I lease a campervan?

The minimum age to hire one of our campervans is 21. (back)

What audio facilities are in the vehicle?

The campers come with a CD player. (back)

Do I need a special van driving licence to drive a campervan?

A standard car driving licence (EU category: B) is sufficient to legally drive a camper. (back)

Are there plenty of fresh water points in Shetland?

Most shops and campsites have fresh water points. (back)

Are there plenty of electrical connection points in Shetland?

You will only get electrical hook ups at campsites. The campers come with cool boxes and gas cookers, they also are fitted with leisure batteries. (back)

Are there plenty of chemical disposal points in Shetland?

Most local shops and service stations have disposal points. (back)

What am I charged to travel with a campervan on an inter-island ferry in Shetland?

The price for a return ticket on an inter-island ferry is £7 for the van and driver. Additional adults are £3 rtn and children are 40p rtn. However, ferries between Yell, Unst and Fetlar are currently free. If you plan to take the van to Fair Isle, Skerries, Papa Stour or Foula please consult the ferry price list. (back)

How many people can I carry in the van?

The van can sleep 4. Two on the rock and roll bed, and 2 in the hammocks, the hammocks are more suitable for slightly smaller people. The drive away awning can also sleep 2 people. The vans are road-legal to carry 6 people; 2 in the front and 4 in the back at a squeeze. For a more comfortable ride, 4 people is good. (back)
