Wildlife in Shetland
There will be no campervans available for hire during 2011. We hope to be back for the 2012 season with new vehicles.
We appologise for any inconvenience caused.
Bird Watching
Shetland is a world-famous destination to watch birds. The huge colonies of seabirds nesting on and around the awesome cliffs around the coast are revered among ornithologists.
Some excellent places to watch birds are:
- Sumburgh Head, in the south Mainland
- Noss, an island east of Lerwick
- Hermaness, a nature reserve in the north of Unst
Seabirds-and-Seals offers some fascinating wildlife cruises from Lerwick.
Sea Mammals
The seas surrounding Shetland are home to numerous species of whale, dolphin and many other sea mammals. If you are camping around the shoreline you may even be lucky enough to see an otter.
